I'm Julian Shipp and my wife's name is Theresa.
I'm raising money for Theresa, who suffers from autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) a rare, but serious blood disorder.
It occurs when the body's red blood cells are destroyed more rapidly than they are being produced. The condition is considered idiopathic when its cause is unknown.
She is also battling systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus) a disease that can affect any organ in the body and may cause a wide range of symptoms
A lifelong anemic, doctor's believe Theresa's condition was activated in February when she caught Type-A flu. It literally threw her body's immune system into a downward spiral.
Theresa had to resign from her teaching position until she recovers. However, she likely won't be able to resume working again until spring (at the earliest).
Despite health care insurance, the medical bills, co-pays and missed income from lack of employment are daunting. The money will be used to offset her medical expenses.
Everyone who knows Theresa has asked how they can help in a practical, meaningful way, so she asked me to establish a "get well fund" in her name. My wife is a fighter and a mighty woman of faith. I have every confidence she'll beat her anemia into remission.
