WSP - Bridges to Prosperity Global Team-Bukoro Trail Bridge
Donation protected
In September 2024, 10 volunteers from WSP Global will embark on a trip to build a new footbridge in Bukoro, Rwanda (existing bridge below).
The team members are: Shawn (Germany), Bedanuj (UK), Scott (Australia), Nick (New Zealand), Johanna (Sweden), Julieta (Spain), Ligia (Australia), Beth (UK), Lindie (South Africa) and Adam (Sweden).
Across two weeks, we will work closely with community members to construct the suspended bridge over a river that usually floods during the rainy season. During this period, children are unable to attend school, and members of the community are cut off from the health centre and markets.
The bridge will be built using locally sourced and donated materials, providing an environmentally responsible and sustainable solution. At the end of the construction project, local people from the community will be trained in the inspection and maintenance of the structure, allowing the bridge to support the population for generations to come.
WSP are contributing costs towards the footbridge construction through their direct support of the Bridges to Prosperity charity, as well as supporting a portion of our costs. We will be volunteering our time, and we are raising funds to cover the cost of travel, logistics, insurance and equipment etc.
Any donation to help us meet our target will be greatly appreciated, as would sharing this link to family and friends. Any excess funds raised will be used by Bridges to Prosperity in their general operations and bridge-build costs on other projects around the world.
