Beyond the Breakdown: The World’s Longest Game

Anyone who knows me knows that I live and breathe rugby - I have done since the age of 11. So I think it’s time to give back to a sport that has given me so much and I need your help to do so.

Since I picked up a rugby ball to get out of going to church every Sunday and join my brother at Effingham and Leatherhead RFC I would’ve never imagined travelling the world, meeting amazing friends and being a part of so many incredible communities. I have been offered a chance to give back to this game and several inspiring causes within in.

In late June I will be competing in a world record breaking game of rugby which will last 34 hours! The longest game of rugby ever played.

The match will kick off in Dublin on the 18th of June at 8am and we will continuously play through night and day until 19th of June at 6pm. The current record stands at 30 hours 29 minutes and 41 seconds - we aim to shatter this by at least 3.5 hours.

My goal is to raise money for two incredible charities that I hold close to my heart - Looseheadz and Wooden Spoon.

Looseheadz aim to place a mental health lead in every rugby club around the world to #TackleTheStigma nad encourage having the hard conversations to save lives . In 2022 49,000 people committed suicide! That is 1 person every 11 minutes. With the help of Looseheadz we can encourage everyone to have the harder conversations with friends, family and teammates to reduce this figure.

Wooden Spoon aims to change the lives of children living with disabilities or facing disadvantages from specialised facilities to inclusive programmes. 11% of children in the UK live with disabilities and 30% of children in the UK live in poverty. Wooden Spoon has helped 113,007 children as of writing this and through your help that be a lot more.

Any funds raised will contribute towards Looseheadz foundation - promoting awareness about mental health. I aim to raise awareness for Wooden Spoon simultaneously.

These two charities mean a lot to me because they have played large roles in my rugby career and personal development. Wooden Spoon Marauders is a UK elite 7s team who, when I was 17, gave me the opportunity to play the highest level of rugby 7s in the UK below playing for my country. Wooden Spoon have contributed so much to my personal rugby journey and have sculpted me as a person. I was extremely lucky to represent Looseheadz at Dubai 7s in 2024 where we spread the message of tackling the stigma. I was able to hear so many incredible stories from players all of the world while competing in one of the most competitive 7s tournaments.

Please help me reach my target of £1,500 raised to support these causes.

Thank you
