Hello, my name is Barbara and I am raising funds for the Acupuncture for Kyengera Project in Uganda with the charity World Medicine. I'll be part of a team providing much needed care to hundreds of people in this underserved community.

This is World Medicine's first project in Uganda and, following the same successful pattern of our India clinics, we're delighted to be partnering with the locally run Mother of Mercy Hospital in April 2026.

We expect to be treating patients with chronic pain; musculo-skeletal problems: bad backs, knees and other injuries that are particularly hard to endure in combination with long days of physical manual labour. The hospital is also known for its care of mothers and children, and we expect to see many at our clinic. Access to health care in Uganda is spasmodic, the poor are particularly disadvantaged and the whole population carries the additional health burdens of malaria, TB and HIV.

Any donations received will go towards travel to Uganda, along with donations to the charity for hospital supplies such as acupuncture needles, moxa and other charity needs. Anyone who donates will also get a weekly email from me while I am on the project to show how their funds are being used to help this community.
