Rwanda Aid Project

Hello,
My name is Grant Beall and I am a student at UCSB. I was born with an immune deficiency called Severe Chronic Cyclic Neutropenia and when I was 5 years old I lost my leg to a flesh-eating bacteria. Since then I have come across many challenges in life. Through hard work and resilience, I have been able to overcome these hurdles. I have played water polo and swam at a collegiate level. I ski, downhill mountain bike, rock climb, surf, along with anything else I set my mind to. I have been able to transfer to UCSB despite the numerous hospitalizations I experience every school year.

Being able to overcome adversity in my life has been a wonderful learning experience. Through these events, I have discovered an unwavering drive to help others overcome hardship in their lives. I have been a public speaker while creating videos with positive themes in hopes of motivating and lifting up those around me.

Now, this summer I have begun my philanthropic work with an amazing organization. This summer I am interning with the non-profit World Dance for Humanity. Through this organization, I will be going on a trip to Rwanda on July 27th. The goal of this trip is to help bring aid to over 11,000 Rwandans, those of whom work with World Dance for Humanity to lift themselves out of poverty and create a brighter future for themselves.

I will be working hands-on with the people during my trip as well as documenting the experience. This includes photography and videography for the trip which I will be posting on social media outlets to bring awareness to the work being done by WD4H.

I am trying to raise $3,700 for the trip. This includes $2,200 for airfare, $1,200 for 16 days in Rwanda (everything included – food, lodgings, transport), and $300 for vaccinations. This is an incredibly low cost for a trip of this magnitude, thanks to World Dance for Humanity’s “no-frills” approach to everything they do.

WD4H provides goats and cows, student stipends, support for community-run businesses, training, and community support (health insurance, water filters, solar lights, mattresses, menstrual pads, etc.). 100% of all donations go directly to the work in Rwanda, which is bringing together people who, 25 years ago, were slaughtering each other during the genocide that swept across their country. By living together in cooperatives and helping each other survive, they are bridging the gap that, not long ago, divided them.

If you are curious about the organization and would like to learn more I have attached the link to their website http://worlddanceforhumanity.org/

Through your generosity, you can join me in helping these people thrive rather than just survive. A donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and consideration
