Work the World with Lauren in Nepal

Donation protected
I’m a 21yr old Paramedicine student from Melbourne and have decided to spend my summer holidays volunteering in a hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal.

I will live for 3 weeks in a share house with medical students from around the world, learn the local language and volunteer each day in the hospital emergency department.

I’m hoping to share the knowledge and skills I have been fortunate enough to have gained in Australia and providing quality healthcare, whilst learning about the challenges faced by a third world hospital.

The hospital in Kathmandu is poorly resourced and patients are expected to provide their own medical supplies, and hospital staff are forced to reuse contaminated supplies. During my volunteer placement I would like to be in a position where I can donate much needed supplies such as disposable gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer, saline, gauze and bandages. These basic items will greatly improve health outcomes for patients as sterile supplies assist in reducing infections.

The expenses of travelling to Nepal as a volunteer health care worker include international flights, accommodation, insurance, vaccinations, medical uniforms and public transport costs which are all out of pocket expenses.

By donating your contribution will be helping me in delivering Australian standard healthcare to underprivileged patients in Nepal.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.
