Woomera Freedom of Information Req.

The Woomera Prohibited Area is the world's largest weapons testing range. Located in the South Australian desert, it hosted nuclear weapons tests in th 1950s, numerous rocket launches and test flights in later decades and in more recent times has seen a new generation of weapons system testing and mining developments occur.

Controlled by the Australian Government's Department of Defence, the area has become an increasingly complex management task, with diverse interest groups including aboriginal traditional owners, tourists, miners and the defence sector all seeking access.

As a public interest researcher, I am seeking information on the area's recent and future uses. I considered requesting access to the minutes of the Woomera Prohibited Area Advisory Board under the Freedom of Information Act  to be a logical place to start. I am volunteering my time to help make this information publicly available, but there are some government administrative fees to be paid, so I am turning to you for assistance.

I have been quoted $120 for the assessment and release of suitable documents. I will ensure that all resulting documents enter the public domain immediately for the benefit of all interested parties.
All my request correspondence and the Woomera Prohibited Area meeting minutes (once released), will be publicly available at the website: http://RightToKnow.org.au  .

Should my fundraising exceed the target figure, any additional funds will be put towards future requests on related topics. All campaign supporters will also be acknowledged in any future analysis I may author with reference to the released documents.
