We are currently working with the girls and women in the villages of India to improve women's health including menstrual cycle education, menstrual hygiene education, access to menstrual hygiene products and access to treatment for menstrual issues.

We will be spending time in the village near Udaipur India this April to assess the care and support the women need in relation to menstrual health.

As a group of health practitioners with special interest in women's health we will be looking forward to providing as much support as possible to these women and girls whose lives get heavily affected.

The key issues in India surrounding menstrual health include:

A lot of women feel disempowered and feel having a menstrual bleed is not a good thing.

Menstrual health is a very taboo topic in India so when a girl gets her first period, there is very rarely any education around it or guidance about what is normal and what is not.

The lack of education, awareness, support and access to menstrual hygiene products mean many issues arise such as:

These health issues then mean girls and women often cannot go to school

or work.

Periods often end a schooling education for girls in India due to lack of awareness, support and menstrual hygiene products.

Our mission is to provide workshops to women in these villages for education, provide menstrual pads & anything else we assess or can access for them to assist in this space.
