Women's Healing: Mind, Body & Spirit
Donation protected
My name is Phoebe Brown. Life experiences have taught me what it is like to feel alone as a woman. I love to give other women who feel alone an opportunity to feel connected. I learned from other women how to heal and to never feel alone again, through their unconditional love, patience and tolerance .
Our nation and our communities are in crisis. I've been approached by many women in the community asking me to please start up again my "Women’s Healing: Mind, Body and Spirit" gatherings, which were so powerful and inspiring to so many several years ago. Once again we are feeling isolated and alone, and need a way to come together and support each other in these unsettling times.
In response, I am asking for your support to begin a new series of "Women’s Healing: Mind, Body and Spirit" gatherings. Beginning in March, 2021 I want to begin a series of gatherings for women of all ages, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds designed to strengthen ties and unify women through support and sharing.
Each gathering will have a theme such as Celebrating Our Differences, Honoring the Divine Within, Modes of Healing, Dealing with Depression. We'll have a chance to talk in small groups as well as the whole. The group will decide on the topic for each upcoming gathering. This winter we will gather by zoom. When warm weather returns, we will meet outdoors. with food, exercise, dance, music, story-telling... and social distancing!
We ask for your contributions to support organizing and outreach, childcare, refreshments, and venue rentals for our gatherings. If we are able to raise enough money, we want to launch a Women's Empowerment Fund, a lending circle to meet local emergeny and entrepreneurial needs.
For those of you who don't know me, I am a long-time community activist in the Ithaca, NY area. I was one of the founders of Tompkins Mutual Aid, and currently serve as Central Regional Coordinator for Alliance of Families for Justice. In 2016 I was the recipient of the Community Foundation Women’s Fund’s Lisa Holmberg Award for selfless community service in support of women. I have received many accolades from my community, however my greatest gift is being a mother and grandmother.
Thank you for your support!
