Support Women Farmers and Food Entrepreneurs to participate in the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan

What is this about?
Climate Bridges has been invited by the UNDP Secretariat supporting the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit to be the thematic lead for the Women Leadership Circle. Now, we're raising funds to sponsor women farmers and food entrepreneurs to attend the first-ever Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan from 31 August – 4 September 2026. Beyond the summit, they will benefit from a mentorship program for longer term impact. (For more information about the summit: https://consciousfoodsystems.org/bhutan-summit-2026/)

What makes this summit different?
This isn't a typical conference. It's a gathering that recognizes we can't fix our broken food systems with technology alone. We need a shift in values, culture, and consciousness — how we think about food, nature, and each other.

The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy... To deal with these, we need an inner and social transformation.

Why is this so important?
Agroecology and conscious food systems help achieve 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals — from good health to clean water to climate action. But real transformation doesn't just come from new techniques. It comes from shifting how we think.

"Conscious food systems is not just what we eat, but how we grow, share, and value food."

These women are already leading the way. They're growing nutritious food, caring for the land, and feeding their families and communities. By sending them to this summit, we connect them to a global movement — and bring that wisdom back to where it's needed most.

Why Bhutan?
Bhutan is the only country in the world that measures success by Gross National Happiness, not just money. It's a global leader in organic farming, climate action, and putting people and nature first. Bhutan shows us that another way is possible. (According to futurepolicy.org)

Why Your Support Matters
They can scale their impact through connections, recognition, visibility and a seat at the table where decisions are made. Your support bridges the gap between grassroots change makers and global leaders.

Women are feeding the world. Let's make sure the world hears their voices. Together, we build bridges — for climate, for women, for conscious food systems.

Why do we need to change how we grow food?
Our food systems are at the heart of the world's biggest crises: climate change, pollution, disappearing wildlife, and dying soil. The way we currently grow and distribute food is harming the planet — and harming us.

Why does farmer wellbeing matter to everyone?
Here's the truth: If our farmers are not okay, our food system is broken. When the people who grow our food are stressed, burned out, or struggling, the food we eat suffers too. Healthy, happy farmers = healthy, nutritious food for all of us.

Why focus on women?
Women are the backbone of our food systems. Around the world, women grow, harvest, cook, and share most of the food we eat. They are feeding the world — including you. Yet women farmers receive far less support, funding, and recognition than men. When we invest in women, entire communities thrive.

What will these women do at the summit?
By attending, these change makers will:

  • Meet heads of state and government leaders including Bhutan's Prime Minister — to get involved in shaping food policies
  • Share their stories through knowledge exchanges and storytelling sessions
  • Build powerful networks with farmers, entrepreneurs, indigenous leaders, UN agencies, and investors from around the world
  • Practice mindfulness and meditation to build personal resilience and inner strength
  • Visit local conscious food projects to see transformation in action
  • Return home inspired and supported to accelerate change in their own communities
  • Continue engaging and connecting with peers through the BeOne mentoring platform for longer term resilience and lasting impact on food systems transformation
