Wolves to Whitby. 200 miles for MIND.
2025 is here and with it comes my biggest charity challenge so far. WOLVES TO THE NORTH EAST. One of the UK's worst regions for suicide. 5 straight days, over 200 miles and all in support of MIND.
Now not many know this about me, but I struggle every day with my own mental health and have since I was a kid. Unfortunately I've had a fair few serious suicide attempts over the years, and spent a few months in hospital. The first being at 15 and the most recent only last March at 31. Giving context to the years I've struggled. Of course with this I've seen multiple psychologists and therapist over the years.
I was lucky enough as a kid to get help through the NHS but with the increase in need for mental services I've had to pay for my own therapy as an adult. I'll never not know how privileged I am to be financially able to do that, but very few of us are! I've spent just shy of £4,000 a year on therapy. Which is a mental amount of money. That's the impossible challenge so many are facing. There's so many who desperately need help and just aren't getting it! I'm thankful that this year I've finally been given my own diagnosis of Bordeline personality disorder. It doesn't change much for me, but it helps my closest family to maybe have some insight into why I am the way I am. Still, it's taken 16 years of trying to get there and that surely can't be good enough.
I've done plenty of charity work over the years and raised a lot for a few different causes. But this is the cause above all else I feel most passionate about. Any support as small as a share mean everything. There will be plenty to come the next 5 months. I'm going all in to raise as much as we possibly can SO SET THE DATE!
THIS MAY! WOLVES TO THE NORTH EAST. MIND CHARITY!
And please don't forget for anyone struggling today, tomorrow or any time in the future. Please be brave enough to reach out.
