Let's give them a home
Dear Friends in Dhamma,
The Buddha said, “giver of residence, āvāsa is the giver of all”. Please read the Buddha’s words more in brief at: https://suttacentral.net/sn1.42/en/bodhi
Or I have added it here for your convenience:
A devatā [deity]:
“Giving what does one give strength?
Giving what does one give beauty?
Giving what does one give ease?
Giving what does one give sight?
Who is the giver of all?
Being asked, please explain to me.”
The Buddha:
“Giving food, one gives strength;
Giving clothes, one gives beauty;
Giving a vehicle, one gives ease;
Giving a lamp, one gives sight.
“The one who gives a residence
Is the giver of all.
But the one who teaches the Dhamma
Is the giver of the Deathless.”
I have another plea for a housing project. Near the monks’ residence we built in Kithulkotey village, one family lives in very poor conditions. Please see the pictures below.
They have been living in these conditions for thirty plus years as they do not have any stable income to build a permanent residence. They are also related to me from my grandmother’s side. I like to help them.
We were able to speak with the nearby Army camp (Kudaoya) and get their voluntary support to build a house. All we need to provide is the cost of material which is estimated to 850,000 LKR (4,242 USD). I decided to make a collective fund to accomplish this goal. Please see a previous house built by Sri Lankan army for the same cost. It has two rooms, a bathroom, with a living room, and kitchen area.
As we start to get funds, the project will start.
For those living in Canada, you may also e-transfer to my email.
Thank you so much for any support you can offer.
Here is the gofundme link. Kindly share with your friends.
Much Mettā, and peace!
Bhante Kusala/ Gemina Perera (Canada)/ and the team.
