Hi, we’re the 2025 Gambia team:

Since the establishment of the Gambia Project in 2004, Withington Girls’ School and the community of Illiasa have developed a strong bond and each year we support various initiatives. We depend on the support of our school and wider community, so please help us achieve our goal this year.  Every child deserves access to education and together we can make a huge difference!

This year we propose to continue funding some improvements to Mama Tamba Nursery school and associated Multipurpose Hall to ensure the children experience a positive and enriching school life. We plan to continue our support and sponsorship of teachers at the nursery school and provide much needed stationery. Additionally, we will continue to develop a feeding programme to ensure the children have sufficient to eat during the school day. We also want to aid the development of new local initiatives, including a bakery, fish farm and soap making projects. These businesses will be developed by the young people, eventually becoming self-funded to support their families. We will also provide donations and equipment to other institutions we visit such as the Maternity Health Centre.


In order to fulfil the above projects, we need to raise a minimum of £8000 by December 2025 and your generous support is essential for us to reach this goal. Any donation would be gratefully received by our team, the pupils at the Mama Tamba Nursery, the young locals and all those at the Maternity Health Centre.
