Hi Everyone,
This August bank holiday, Andrew and I will be taking on a sponsored walk to Scafell Pike, the highest peak in England, in support of Llanelli Centre for the Deaf, a charity that holds a special place in my heart. This cause is especially meaningful to my family, as my dearest Mam is Deaf. My Mam and sister are now trustees of the centre, helping to run and support this vital community space.
Llanelli Centre for the Deaf is housed in a beautiful Georgian building, purchased by the Deaf community in the 1940s with funds that were bequeathed to them. Since then, it has served as a vital hub where the Deaf community can come together, learn, and socialise. The centre offers a range of activities, including a youth club, seasonal events, and BSL sign language lessons for families. It’s a safe and welcoming space where deaf people of all ages and their loved ones can connect and have fun.
Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, the building has fallen into disrepair. Leaks, unsafe rooms, and structural issues have left parts of it unusable. It urgently needs a new roof, render, windows, doors, and other essential repairs to continue serving the community.
I am determined to raise as much money as possible to help preserve this incredible place for those who rely on it. Please support us by donating, sharing our story, and spreading the word. Every contribution makes a difference!
Additionally, if you are a business or trade professional and would like to sponsor us by offering a product or service that could help with the repairs, please get in touch, we would be incredibly grateful for any support.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity! X
