Help Ayvin in recovery and coming home
Hi my name is Nakita Bowie and I am the older sister of Ayvin Bowie. Ayvin is a 15 year old basketball athlete who loves his family, basketball, his friend and girlfriend, marvel (especially spider man). He is a loving, kind hearted, sweet kid you have ever met. He also goes to high school in Red Deer Alberta. On Monday April 29, 2024 our day started out as normal as an day our step dad was heading to work, our mom was getting ready work and I was getting ready for school and so was Ayvin. As Ayvin was heading down the stairs to his room he collapsed on the stairs and was unable to break his fall which lead him to hitting his head at the bottom knocking him out cold. Both our mom and I ran to him to see him completely unconscious, seizing and unresponsive, we called an ambulance at 5:25 am. When they arrived he was semi conscious and was placed in a c collar. He was awake by then with no memory of what happened and went to the Red deer hospital. He spent the day at the red deer hospital and in the afternoon after running many tests and scans they decided that taking him to the Edmonton Stollery Children’s Hospital was going to be a better place to help get him diagnosed and rehabilitated. The next day was when he had his first of many seizures he forgot who everyone was except for my mom. Wednesday was the first time I got to see him and having to walk into a room and introduce yourself to your own brother was completely heartbreaking when just a week prior we were laughing, making jokes, and always hanging out. His girlfriend who he has been asking about also came down the same day and seeing his face when he saw her was the happiest he has ever been since the accident. She brought photos of them and everyday he will look at them and smile. He had his 5th seizure that same night and it was bad enough where he forgot everything and later in the night he re-remembered. It has been a back and forth battle of lucid and non. With the donations we receive it will go to our Travel, gifts, medical, rehabilitation, and his raisin bran that he has been obsessed with ever since he woke up. My family would be very grateful for any donation of any amount. If you can’t donate please share this and spread the word! I can’t wait for the day my little brother finally comes home sweet home! It will be an uphill battle but we celebrate every success he makes big or small. He is a bright light in a lot of people’s lives and has the biggest heart of anyone I know. This is going to be a long road for Ayvin and our mom as she has not left his side and will not. We thank you for all of your prayers, love and support through this trying time. We will go to the ends of the earth to make sure Ayvin has the best care and success in recovery. If anyone has any resources for us to look into in supporting Ayvin’s recovery please let us know. Again we all thank you.
