Hi, my name is Fidelma, and I’m writing this because I am in an extremely desperate situation.

I never imagined I would be in this position, but I have no choice but to reach out for help. I’ve set up this GoFundMe for myself and my children as I am facing an incredibly difficult time.

Last year, I made the painful decision to leave my husband, because he was making me miserable and failing to be the loving partner I needed. However, things took a terrible turn. Our conflicts escalated, and he ultimately had me arrested twice, using the system against me. He took advantage of my hearing impairment, knowing I couldn’t hear the phone to call for help. He also weaponized my mental health against me, slowly breaking me down.

The stress has left me unable to work, and I am now struggling financially. He has taken our two children from me, knowing exactly how to manipulate the situation. He refuses to pay the rent for the home where I currently live with our two dogs - dogs that have been part of our family for eight years, but he now wants nothing to do with them.

Now, he is threatening to stop paying the rent altogether, which will leave me homeless with my dogs. Since I’m not in a position to financially support myself and the kids right now, he is using this against me to take full custody. He has already secured legal help and is making all the right moves, while I am left lost, overwhelmed, and struggling to access the support I need.

I urgently need to raise funds to hire a solicitor as soon as possible. He has made it clear that time is running out, and unfortunately, I don’t have the time to apply for free legal aid. I have found a solicitor who can help me, but I need the money upfront to secure their services. Without legal representation, I am at serious risk of losing everything.

My parents desperately want to help me, but they are elderly and already have loans to pay back, so they are unable to take out another one for me. That’s why I am turning to the kindness of others—any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to me.
