An older gentleman first name Ron was attacked by a person or persons and was in hospital with very serious head injuries. He couldn't tell us what happened, he was going to the Walmart Clearance store (Treasure Hunt ) to pick up a couple of items. It was "senior's day" In the space of 40 minutes, he was found bleeding in an alley behind there. His vehicle also sustained damage. It was August 1--between 8:16 when he was seen on video turning into the parking lot and 8:56 when the police called. He was driving a white Mitsubishi and it has dents in the driver's door and back door with obvious footprints. The black panel between the windows and the window behind him was hit with some kind of hard object. There are other marks and the right rear tail light was kicked out. He was found in the alley behind, Albert's restaurant, Murph's and Central Middle School are all close. If anyone saw or heard something please call the local non-emergency line @ [phone redacted]. RCMP file #2023-1123194

Ron has spent the last two and half weeks in hospital. He has now been sent home under the care of his loving wife.
He still has bruising and swelling on his head, has stitches and his one eye doesn't open all the way. The prognosis is unknown but the hospital has said "hide the car keys and unplug the stove." He doesn't know what day of the week it is, and can't manage to use the TV remote or his cell phone properly. Needs help and reminders to shower, brush his teeth and change clothes. Sleeps a lot, has double vision and the light outside is difficult, he can't be outside very long without complaining of blurry vision and headache. Has to go to the hospital for OT weekly at least. He's in remarkably good spirits, recognizes everyone and friends and neighbours have been over to play cards with him to get his brain thinking. Doctor says time will tell
Ron's wife has been off work since the accident, using up all available leave and can't see being able to leave him home alone in the foreseeable future.
Ron has gone from being a totally independent, busy guy who loved to take his wife on road trips for her photography, take care of their yard and critters, play WORDLE every morning and do Suduko puzzles to a guy who asks me the same questions over and over and can't even figure out what day it is. It's terrifying to see someone you love change like this overnight. Ron was always the guy who helped everyone no questions asked.
