Wings for Hope: Together, We Can Lift Those Families Out of Poverty!

There’s a well-known saying:
“Give someone a fish and they eat for a day. Teach someone to fish, and they eat for a lifetime.”

That’s exactly what we strive for: helping people stand on their own feet!

In the south of Egypt, around 450 km from Cairo, in the village of Sheikh Massoud, no less than 75% of families live below the poverty line. Families try to survive on less than one euro per day. Due to sky-high inflation, a severe lack of employment opportunities, and rising costs, more and more people are getting trapped in hopelessness. People want to work, but the opportunities simply aren’t there.

We want to change that!

Not by offering temporary aid, but by launching sustainable projects (mini-businesses) that empower families living in poverty to build their own lives and become self-reliant.

We are four students from the Aviation Engineering studies at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. This project is part of our school program and serves as our final assignment for the minor we are currently completing at our University.

For this project, we are working with a trusted foundation: De Nijlvallei that is already active in Sheikh Massoud. Thanks to their close connection with the local community, they know exactly what is needed, and how we can make the greatest impact together.

✨ What are we going to do? ✨

Poultry Farms

We’ll set up small-scale poultry farms at families’ homes, including chickens, feed, and coops. This allows families to sell eggs independently and build a stable income.

Sewing Machines for People with Disabilities or Talent

Those who can do seated work will receive a sewing machine and materials, so they can make clothes at home and sell them outside. This also gives them the chance to build a stable income.

‍‍‍ Local Employment

Every project creates jobs for those families and has a positive, lasting impact on the entire community. This isn’t one-time aid, this is building toward a fair and sustainable future.

But we can’t do this without your help!

What happens with your donation?

Every euro is carefully and fully spent on:

✔️ Building and setting up poultry farms

✔️ Purchasing chickens and chicken feed

✔️ Sewing machines and the necessary materials

In May 2025, we will travel to Egypt to make this a reality. Donations are accepted until May 9.
