Winds of Change , Cyprus, and the Boldleaders

I need your help. Twenty years, almost to the day, I have the opportunity to return to an Island I love and contribute one last time, facilitating a Bold project idea and train two young Cypriots to also facilitate. I must raise at least $2,500.00 (Now $3,000.00 Forgot Euro ) to complete this effort. In 2003 my life changed in ways I could not imagine. It was the first time I would be invited to meet and work with teens from the divided island of Cyprus. In response to that experience, I would create the Boldleaders program to continue the work with Cypriots, working with hundreds of teens and educators until 2009, and that work led to efforts with hundreds more teens and educators from 22 countries, including the USA. Cyprus remains divided yet the value of the two communities making strides in sharing and coming together is never more important. Though still a divided island, the value of peaceful relationships and communicative collaboration on this particular island is integral to the overall success of this part of our world. Twenty years later, I have the opportunity to come full circle with what I consider my life’s contribution at the highest level. To return to the island and work with Cypriot young people attempting to make the impossible possible with a bold move! A young woman, now a doctor, who first met me as a teen on the island at a workshop I delivered, well over a decade ago, was recently selected as a member of the Olympic Movements Young Leaders program. Her vision is to sail a boat of bi-communal sailors, with no prior sailing experience, to sail a boat around the entirety of the island. Sound simple? The politics of this Mediterranean island almost ensures the impossibility. This Go Fund Me campaign will also allow me to create several events and meet with the hundreds of Boldleaders still on the island, and introduce them to a new process we have created at Boldleaders. The $2,500.00 US request includes air travel, some housing costs as well as island travel, and facility rental for 2-3 Boldleader Workshop events on the island prior to and post to the Winds of Change training four-day residential. -These funds ensure my ability to travel and facilitate a four-day residential, with twenty participants along with the training of two facilitators, one Turkish Speaking Cypriot and another, Greek Speaking Cypriot to do the impossible and the bold. $1,600.00 (US ) towards airfare, $600.00 towards facility rental, X 3 (currently estimated), $250.00 for housing and $50.00 for local transportation and fuel costs. -It will also allow for a reunion of hundreds of past Boldleader participants, who participated in life-changing experiences, and the continuation of their practice as leaders in their communities and with their families. From the get-go, Boldleaders staff and many volunteers have maintained relationships with almost all of the past Cypriot participants. One of my personal joys is to meet with them while traveling the world or hearing from them about how what they did as teens with the Boldleaders made a difference with them as university students, within their families and especially in their careers. Doctors, politicians, executives, musicians, actors, engineers, business owners, sports careers, civil workers, attorneys, educators and professors. Husbands, wives. . .and now, several of them, parents. And the best part? Hearing positive and profound results from people I have not seen in decades. It happens more and more as the years pass. This is about connection, collaboration, relationships and participation. This is going one step beyond where we usually stop. This is mindful language long before being “mindful” became cool. This is the place where a big piece of my heart can be found. We need $2,500.00 to pull this off. Please, take a moment and respond and contribute.
