The Preston Windrush Generation and Descendants (PWGD) UK is a community led group supporting the Black Community in Preston by giving advice and guidance to the victims of the Windrush scandal.
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, PWGD UK group has launched an outreach food project aimed to the vulnerable elderly population by cooking and delivering free Afro-Caribbean food to 65+ years old members of the community. This outreach project will fulfill the cultural gastronomic need of the black community who are isolated and unable to access shopping for the ingredients on their normal nutritional routine which can further impact on their mental health.
All proceed of donations are used to buy, prepare and deliver food to the 65+ elderly isolated in Preston due to Covid-19.
Currently the group and its volunteers are delivering food every Friday to the vulnerable and elderly in Preston, Chorley and Blackpool.
We rely solely on donations to continue this project and increase this provision. Anyone can help with the Windrush Community Response food project.
Your support is vital and key to allow us to continue alleviating the challenges faced by our local elderly community and families in this challenging time and by bringing food to their front doors. It is undeniable that food brings people together and promotes a real sense of belonging and identity.
Would you consider donating any amount to help us continue and achieve our mission?
We need a building to continue and offer further to those that need ur support therefore allowing people not to feel isolated or alone.
We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to continue this initiative.
