Hello everyone,

My name is William Chapin, and I am a Life Scout from Palisades Troop 223, currently working on my Eagle Scout Project. An Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America, representing leadership, service, and dedication. To earn this rank, a Scout must plan, develop, and execute a community service project that demonstrates these qualities, benefiting an organization or the local community.

For my project, I am working with the YMCA Palisades Malibu, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to enhance the Simon Meadow facility by building four outdoor chess tables. These tables will serve the local community, particularly the children attending the Simon Meadow Summer Camp, by giving them a fun and educational opportunity to play chess.

The Project: I plan to build four durable wood tables, each equipped with a built-in chessboard, along with two stools per table. The tables will be weather-resistant and placed in strategic locations around Simon Meadow. In addition, a YMCA staff member has expressed interest in offering chess lessons to campers, which makes these tables even more valuable to the community.

How You Can Help: To bring this project to life, I am seeking financial support for the purchase of materials and supplies. This includes high-quality wood for the tables and stools, as well as the necessary tools for construction. 100% of all funds will go to the YMCA and my project. Any excess funding will be donated to the YMCA as well.
