In Loving Memory of William (Will) John Nicholson Jr
Winthooth: 1 May 1997
Yimu: 19 May 2025
Farewell Wednesday 11 June 2025 at 10am, Lilydale Memorial Park, followed by burial at Healesville Cemetery
With deep sorrow and immense love, we honour the life and spirit of William (Will) John Nicholson Jr, a proud Wurundjeri, Gunnai, Djaara, Ngurai illum wurrung man whose journey on this earth ended far too soon. Will was not only a devoted son, a loving brother, and a cherished cousin and nephew—he was above all, a maman mamun (father) to his beautiful 16-month-old son, Jordy, who was the light of his life and the legacy he leaves behind.
Will walked proudly in the footsteps of his Ancestors, guided by the strength and wisdom of his father, Uncle Bill Nicholson Jr, a respected Wurundjeri Elder and cultural educator. Through Uncle Bill’s teachings, Will carried the stories, the spirit, and the responsibilities of his people with pride and humility. His connection to Country - to the sacred lands, waterways, and skies of his people - was deep and unwavering.
Will’s presence was powerful yet gentle, grounded in Bunjil’s Law of respect, responsibility, and care for all living things. He was a man of laughter, of quiet strength, and of deep cultural pride. His love for his son Jordy was boundless, and though his physical journey has ended, his murrup (spirit) will forever walk beside his little boy, whispering stories of his ker-rup-non (mob).
The Nicholson-Austin family is grief-stricken as they come to terms with this unimaginable loss. In this time of mourning, many have asked how they can support the family and especially young Jordy, who must now grow up without his beloved father.
This account has been created with the full support and blessing of the family. All funds raised will go directly towards supporting little Jordy’s future to raise, guide, and care for him in the years to come. Your generosity will help ensure that Jordy grows up surrounded by the same cultural strength, love, and community that his father embodied.
As we honour Will’s life, we also honour the enduring strength of his people, whose connection to this land stretches from time immemorial. May Will’s murrup soar with the Ancestors, and may his memory continue to guide and inspire all who knew and loved him.
Ngoon godgin (thanks) for walking with us in this time of immense grief. Will is in the arms of Bunjil and all those loved ones who we have lost.
