Wildlife research volunteering in Malawi, Africa

This September and October, I'm heading to Malawi in Southern Africa as part of my gap year to volunteer on two amazing wildlife research projects with the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust and Worldwide Veterinary Service. I’m really excited about this opportunity because conservation is something I’m very passionate about.

I’ll be part of teams in Liwonde National Park and Majete Reserve, where we’ll be monitoring wildlife and researching endangered species. I'll get to be out in the bush tracking lions, cheetahs, elephants, wild dogs, and rhinos. It’s all about gathering crucial data to help inform conservation strategies. I’ll be learning how to use satellite tracking, camera traps, and taking ID photos of these incredible animals.

I'll spend four weeks in Liwonde National Park with the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust (LWT). LWT has been protecting Malawian wildlife since 2007 through research, animal welfare, and education outreach. Then, I’ll head to Majete Reserve for two weeks with the Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS), which operates globally to ensure high standards of animal welfare. Both organisations work with African Parks (see videos).

I've been saving up through various jobs over the past year to cover as much of the costs as possible, but I still need a bit of help. Both organizations charge for volunteering to support their operations, so any contribution you can make would be massively appreciated. Your help would also cover travel costs and required vaccinations. The total cost is £4000, so anything you can give, no matter how small, would be amazing.
