Hi, I’m Ayla and I’m fundraising to volunteer at Yanacocha wildlife rescue in Ecuador.

On July 2nd I am going to a wildlife sanctuary just outside the city of Puyo to volunteer rehabilitating wildlife for two months. The center I am volunteering at takes in animals who have been victims of illegal animal trafficking and kept as pets - confiscated by the environmental authorities and given to them with the aim of releasing them back into the wild. As a volunteer, I will be set tasks ranging from feeding, training and cleaning out the animals to helping to build and repair enclosures. We will be up from 7h30 and working til 17h00 making sure all the animals are well and the center is being looked after. At the end of the two months, I will then be continuing my journey to the Galapagos Islands to work closely with the Galàpagos National Park Giant in order to conserve and protect the indigenous Giant Tortoises and Sea Turtles through breeding programmes, conservation and protection programmes for a few weeks. My time in the Galàpagos will be spent with a host family and will also include helping them around the house and with their farm whilst not conserving the island. I will be funding this trip, however, I would like to be able to do more for the sanctuary as part of my trip and I am looking for donations to help me with this. With only 45 days left until I leave, I would like to collect as many donations as possible to help all I can with the protection and rehabilitation of these animals!
