Help Wilburton to open a much needed village shop
Donation protected
My name is John Attrill and I am the chairman of a community benefit society called Wilburton Community Hub. Its purpose is to open a village shop in Wilburton, Cambridgeshire. We plan to start as a temporary structure in the car park of the Wilburton Flame Pub and Restaurant on the High Street. We are community led following the Plunkett Foundation UK shop model. We are a not for profit society registered with the FCA and all proceeds are reinvested in the local community.
So far we have been awarded a grant from the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority and the Plunkett Foundation UK for £50,000 with the condition that we raise £10,000 in shares and donations from the community to show support for the idea. If we do not reach £10,000 the shop cannot be delivered as we will not secure the larger grant. If you want the shop then I strongly encourage you to convince as many people to put their donation in as possible!
A Community Benefit Society is run by a committee elected out of the share holders. If you wish to own shares in the society then go to the website, complete the application and pay us in cash or by BACS (instructions to do this are on the website). www.wilburtonhub.org
Offering money through GoFundMe will not make you a share holder, as your money will be considered donation. This can only be done through an application form.
Thank you so much for donating, we really want to make this happen so that Wilburton can have its village shop again. Realistically, this is the only way it will ever happen. Please give what you can, large or small, it will all count.
