Why I Am Fundraising for Mark Bowen — Still Mark Campaign

Donation protected
I am raising money for Mark Bowen, a friend of mine who broke his neck playing rugby when we were just 16 years old.

The photo on this page was taken just days before the accident on October 4th 1992. Mark is throwing the ball into the lineout and I am standing to the far left... When I visited Mark at Stoke Mandeville shortly after the accident it was overwhelming. It could easily have been any one of us.

When Mark, a vicars son, was injured back in 1992, the compensation he received was far less than what’s typical today. Those limited funds are now nearly gone, and without a financial cushion, Mark faces a future with serious financial insecurity despite working tirelessly and living as frugally as possible.

Mark has been a quadriplegic, requiring 24-hour care for the majority of his life however despite his profound injury, Mark faced the world with courage and determination. Instead of succumbing to hardship, he trained as a professional psychotherapist, using his experience to help others navigate their own challenges.

The reality of living with a severe disability, raising an 11-year-old daughter, managing daily life in a wheelchair, and grappling with the rising costs of living means that he now needs our help.

I know Mark has found it very difficult to ask for this help however I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help an old friend. Please donate what you can and share this with anyone who might care, let’s help Mark and his daughter live the life they deserve.

Thankyou
