This October, The Wanderers are turning pink to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Now.
After raising an incredible £1,240 last year, we are coming together again to raise money in memory of Dawn Payne and support the continued fundraising of our close friend and club supporter, Nick Payne.
Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’ll be running bonus-ball draws and organising other fundraising activities across the club.
October will be the main focus for our fundraising, but our fundraising won’t stop there. We’ll continue raising money throughout the remainder of the football season and will look for more ways to support Nick’s incredible fundraising along the way.
Dawn sadly passed away from breast cancer in August 2019 at just 44 years old. She played a special part in the lives of many members of our team.
Nick has also played a huge role in the journey of West Herts Wanderers. He helped us get the club off the ground and has continued to support us ever since. Again this is our opportunity to help and contribute to his £100,000 target.
Nick is the beneficiary of this page, and all money raised by WHWFC will go towards his ongoing fundraising.
Whether it’s £5, £10 or simply sharing the page, every bit of support helps.
Last year we raised £1,240. We would like to raise more this season.
Thank you.

In 2017, Dawn was diagnosed with breast cancer and successfully underwent chemotherapy. Sadly following a reoccurrence she passed away on 28th August 2019. We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up or fight like hell. Unfortunately at the young age of 44, Dawn lost her battle but by only working together can we win the war. £1000 will kit out a PhD student with everything they need to beat cancer sooner, helping to train the researchers of tomorrow.
