My son Joshua and his wife Amanda unexpectedly, yet joyfully, welcomed their fourth foster child into their family of five on Friday, March 24th. It is my hope as a proud grandma, that I can encourage others to help financially support them fit all seven children into one happy van.
The larger passenger van can cost anywhere between 25-35k, and I'd love to help bless them and offset this cost as we can.
Here's a bit more about their family's story, in Amanda's words, below:
Before I even held our third biological baby girl in my tummy, Josh and I felt God tell us we would adopt. Specifically, that we would adopt from foster care here in Minnesota. We began this process in the summer of 2014, hoping and expecting to be matched with one child in the following year.
That next October, on Josh's birthday, we recieved a phone call asking if we could provide temporary care to a sibling group of three brothers aged 11, 3, and 1. God surprised us greatly in giving us the privilege of becoming their adoptive parents. We will be finalizing their adoptions sometime this year.
Recently on an unsuspecting Friday morning, I recieved another life changing phone call. The birth mother of our boys had given birth to a baby girl. The social worker asked if we would be willing to bring her home to our family. It was without any hesitation that we said yes. With trembling hands but strong hearts, we entered the hospital later that evening and held this beautiful little girl in our arms.
I love that the response of our community is: how can we help? What do they need? Having seven children, we honestly don't need much. We have many buckets of girls' clothes, an extra crib, and pleanty of toys. Due to the privacy of foster-care and the health of a premature baby, we wish that we could ask for babysitters. It wasn't until my oldest son asked 'how are we all going to drive to church?' that we realized...we need bigger transportation for the nine of us!
My gracious mother-in-law Gail has offered to put forward an ask for funding on our behalf. It's hard and humbling to even ask for financial help. We will be buying a 12-15 passenger van, but the cost is quite a bit more than we expected. More that we have budgeted as we try to prepare a home for us all. We appreciate any consideration given to helping us with this sudden, wonderful need. - Amanda & Josh
