My friend Cora's son, Jayden, was hit by a drunk driver on December 23rd (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/impaired-driving-child-hospital-injuries-ottawa-1.7069551). Jayden is a 7-year-old boy full of life and happiness until he was badly injured in the car crash.

Jayden's road to recovery will be long and arduous for him and for his mother.

He will need 24/7 care for the next weeks and months and over the coming months, he will need follow up appointments and physiotherapy. He likely won't be able to go to school and will need home schooling.

Cora has been a rock for her son. She is a single mom who has been working contract work, has no insurance and will have no income coming in as she takes care of Jayden.

The reality of paying rent and bills is going to start weighing heavy and distract Cora from where her attention needs to be -- on her son.

Cora didn't ask for this -- their lives smashed by a drunk driver.

La réalité des paiements du loyer et des factures vont commencer à peser lourd et détourner Cora de l'attention qu'elle doit porter à son fils.

Cora n'a rien demandé de tel : leurs vies ont été brisées par un conducteur ivre.
