Wheelchair Van for Miss Maggie
Donation protected
Miss Maggie is an amazing 18 year old who is currently in her senior of high school in Redding, California. Maggie enjoys outdoor activities with family and friends. She loves swimming, fishing, and especially tent camping. Maggie has always been a lover of nature and animals.
Maggie also enjoys the glam life of hotel stays! We travel frequently to the Bay Area for her medical care. Recently however transporting Maggie has become extremely difficult.
Maggie was diagnosed with a rare form of intractable epilepsy called Lennox Gastaut Syndrome when she was 2 years old as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has undergone multiple brain surgeries and treatments. Maggie has been in palliative care through Stanford University since she was 9.
Over the years Maggie's physical abilities have suffered and regressed due to her seizures. Maggie has relied on a wheelchair the majority of her childhood. As Maggie has grown into a young adult her physical needs have evolved and our current vehicle just doesn't work for her, the person lifting her, or towing her adult sized wheelchair. After undergoing extensive Crohns related surgery myself in September I am permanently unable to lift her.
We are working with a local dealership to purchase an accessible van. We are asking for support for the down payment so we may keep our primary vehicle.
With summer approaching we would love for Maggie to be able to camp, explore, and enjoy outings with her friends safely and comfortably.
Thank you for your support even if it's just a like and a share!
