Hi, my name is Jayme; I am a full-time caregiver of Kayla. She was born spina bifida and is paralyzed waist down her disability. Kayla only gets around in a wheelchair full-time. Currently, the vehicle we load her wheelchairs in barely fits in the back. The car we have now is having a lot of issues. We do so much traveling back and forth from Bauxite to Arkansas Children's Hospital, And I'm kind of scared to make that journey all the time with the condition of the car as of now. Kayla is 13, 110 pounds, and she will not get any smaller. This puts a lot of strain on our backs as her full-time caregivers. Kayla also has severe scoliosis. Due to her only using her arms for mobility it causes her to suffer from a lot of shoulder, back and arm pain. To top it off she also has full-body Osteoporosis. Kayla's arms are her life, and we don't need her shoulders blowing out at 13. The doctors have already mentioned how worried they are about the usage of her shoulders. In the past, we have used a wheelchair rack that attaches to the back of my car. With a lot of rainy conditions, it makes it hard to travel. Her wheels are electric assist, and they cannot get wet. Even in the summertime with the sun, she is at high risk of burns if her chair gets too hot. We are a very hard-working family, but we are living paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford a significant down payment. With my vehicle going bad we are a family that cannot survive with one car in the household with all of her medical conditions. We sometimes we have to rush to the ER at all hours, and one vehicle would make Kayla's care much harder. We found a wheelchair van and so happy the owner has allowed let us take it home to try it. He is offering to sale it to us $3000. I’ve moved down our amount to $4000 so we can have money to get tags and have a few miner stuff fixed on it .
