Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle for Michelle
Hi Everyone, I'll start by saying that this was a difficult thing for me to do. I'm not one for asking for things, especially money. My name is Michelle & I was born with Spina Bifida, which in short means I'm a paraplagic. 5 years ago, I had a double carpal tunnel repair which left me with partial loss of function and sensory issues in my left hand. Due to this, I lost my ability to drive & even be able to lift myself into a normal car to be able to get around. Since then, I've used my powered wheelchair to get from A to B around town, as well as using Taxis, however this is costly and in our small town there isn't a lot of public transport available. It has placed some major stress on our family life and I've missed out on a lot of family outings due to not being able to get into a car. I'm currently looking at purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle that would enable me and my family to travel together to wherever we need to go. Currently the NDIS do not fund vehicles, so my parents are looking at funding it. They are on the age pension so this will be a major strain for them. After everything they've done for me since my birth, I don't want to burden them with this. So, I'm asking you if you could please give us a helping hand. Any donation big or small, will be received with the utmost appreciation. Thank you for listening. Take care. Michelle
