Westwood Elementary 5th Grade Outdoor Education

Help our 5th graders go to camp!

(this is a fundraiser for the entire 5th grade class)

We are so excited to be able to offer our 5th graders the opportunity to experience Outdoor Education at Walker Creek Ranch from March 4-7, 2024! The last overnight camp for Westwood students took place in 2019! But to do this, we need your help!

In order to make this happen, we need to raise $19,000 total by January 31st! The fees cover the cost of lodging, meals, activities for 4 days/3 nights, in addition to transportation costs.

This means we need to raise over $350 per student planning on attending the camp. We need to raise this money for all students. If we do not, no students will be able to go.

If you are a parent/guardian who would like their child to attend, please keep that $350 amount in mind — we will either need to pay it or raise it. This — and our other fundraisers — will also help to offset the cost for any student who might not otherwise be able to afford to go. We want all kids to go!

In addition to direct parent contributions, we are running a number of fundraising campaigns including this one. For this GoFundMe, we’re keeping the goal target modest at $3,000 — but we hope to exceed that (and will adjust as necessary). You may also donate directly to the school by dropping off a check in the front office*.

The camp director also offers a recorded parent session for families, in which he shares details and answers questions. There is one more live session coming up on January 18th at 5:30 pm. They also offer 'Open House' visits to their facilities. The next and last visit is scheduled for January 31, 2023 at 11:00 am.

About this fundraiser: This is a fundraiser for the ENTIRE 5th grade class — not just a single student. While this fundraiser is organized by Truman Wimmer's dad (Hunter), the proceeds go to the fund for the entire class. Truman is a 5th grader and one of the kids holding the sign at the top — and he's really excited about camp. Truman's mom, Casie, is the treasurer for the PFC — the parent/teacher organization at the school... so she handles all the money. Any donations to this GoFundMe will go directly to the school (100%).

*Unfortunately, the way GoFundMe is organized, we cannot receive any tax-free donations. If you'd like to work the tax-free donation angle, you'll need to write a check directly to Westwood Elementary School (note: 5th grade Outdoor Education) and work with the front office on the paperwork.
