In the summer of 2017 a small group of Westfield citizens gathered to discuss the feasibility of a tribute to our community’s First Responders. The result of that meeting was a resounding "YES" and almost two years and many additional volunteers later that tribute is about to become a reality. A dedicated group of approximately 30 local citizens have been meeting and planning for a fitting tribute to those who serve and who have served Westfield as police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. It is projected that in the spring of 2019 a groundbreaking will occur at the former site of the Portage Inn where the First Responders Tribute will be permanently installed as part of the redevelopment project for this location. The site will include a commemorative monument, national and first responder flags, benches, an ampitheater and attractive landscaping. It should be noted that this site was also the site of the first fire hall in Westfield. The anticipated dedication date is September 11, 2019.
If you want to help honor our brave and selfless men and women past and present who have made themselves available 24/7 to keep us safe and to rescue us from harm, please help us do that with a generous donation to this project and show your thanks and gratitude for all they do.
