NEW AUGUST 2023: The pandemic never ended. There's no such thing as a "Summer flu." Nearly all institutional mitigation has ended. We have to protect us.

New: It's July 2022, we have a Summer surge all around us.

The Disabled, the marginalized, our elders, hell the infection rate right now as of writing this is - our leaders are abandoning us. There's a summer surge with an extremely contagious variant. 1 out of 5 folks who get covid end up with long covid. How can it go on like this? With pretty much zero mitigation?

We need to regroup and recommit ourselves for community defense. We protect us. This is the United States of America there's essentially no social safety nets and no one is coming to save us. We gotta fight back and protect each other. Please. A better world is still possible. The Disabled deserve to live in public. The mass disabling pandemic must be resisted in our hearts and in our deeds. We are what we do.

The Comixmongers of Easthampton MA want to distribute more free masks to our patrons, neighbors and anybody who will take them. To do this we need partnerships with local businesses, citizens and anyone who will throw in with us. We need financial assistance.

The 1000 masks we ordered were paid for completely out of pocket. We donated a large number directly to the Easthampton Community Center to protect the volunteers who support this community. We gave out 10 packs to nearly a dozen local business and handed out 300 masks in pairs to everyone we saw. The need is still great and we need your support. Our city, our region is calling out for masks and we aim to get masks into as many folks hands

The Mask Up! project is about solidarity with the working class and the disabled. The immunocompromised must be protected and that means we all gotta do our part. We started the project commissioning pro-masking posters to encourage and model mask use. We have never sold or distributed those posters. Before the surge we had been making masks available at both of our entraces - because of the surge we understand more must be done.

Our intention is to purchase 2000 masks through https://bonafidemasks.com/. We sourced our first 1000 and the majority of our household masks through that website. We have been in contact with a customer service rep and they are expecting our order. On Monday, 01/31 we're going to drive to where they are in NY and bring them home the masks ourselves. If everything goes to plan we'll start giving them out one week from now - Wednesday 01/03/22.
