Western Refugee Student Needs Help

I’m Rob Stainton. I’ve had half a dozen years experience helping to bring refugees to Canada and support them once they are here. I am taking on another urgent case.

I recently met a young Afghan man, only 19. I will call him Fayaz. He was already here as a refugee, and astonishingly has already won a scholarship at Western University. He's healthy, but he’s alone, lonely, and very worried about the rest of his family. They are running out of money and are about to find themselves homeless in Turkey with winter coming on.

Amazingly, Fayaz and I have been able to find a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) who will process the paperwork necessary to bring his family over. They'll even do it on an expedited basis, if we can raise enough funds to support the family during their first year in London, Ontario. That's why I'm starting another GoFundMe campaign.

The family consists of the student's parents and his six siblings, all under 18. Because it's such a large family, the total cost is about $40,000.

To explain the logistics, I will collect the money. I will have GoFundMe transfer it to my own bank account. I'll then pass it along to the SAH, in trust for Fayaz' family. The church will dispurse the money to the family on a monthly basis for the first year they reside in Canada.

If we cannot bring Fayaz’ family over, it will be hard to refund all the donations. So, the money raised will remain with the SAH to help other refugees.
