The current and ongoing pandemic surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in a scary time. As we battle the Virus, keeping each other safe and healthy, all whilst worrying about employment security, our future and much more, we need to ensure that we are also working in solidarity to protect our communities. In Western Sydney, with Emerton shops having shut down, this has left many families and households in public housing in a very difficult position. The sick, the elderly and those without means of independent transport are left in vulnerable positions, low on basic supplies and amenities needed to survive, and will be at risk of jeopardising their health and safety by fending for themselves to obtain already scarce supplies. It has become apparent that our governments, self-fulfilling political institutions and charities remain oblivious to the struggle of people in our local communities. In upholding the traditions of mutual aid, it is upon us to do the work, for solidarity, for community self defence. Collective care is our best weapon to fight the Virus. As a collective comprised of members of the community, as well as people working in social services we have a direct understanding of which and what supplies are needed and where they need to go to be the most beneficial. We have spent our time on the ground at the forefront, door knocking and checking in on residents and families and helping with what they need far more rapidly than social services, whilst maintaining strict health and safety sanitary measures. Whilst we are absolutely grateful for the donations we have received in the form of supplies, due the uncertainty of the length of pandemic, the scarcity of spare supplies and the volume of residents we hope to help has meant this won't be sustainable in the long run. As many have contacted us offering financial donations, we have set this up as a means of helping out. No amount is too little. Let us prove to ourselves that, rather than relying on the self-fulfilling political institutions and careerist politicians, we have the capacities to care for, nurture, build and support our own communities. If not you, then who? If not now, then when? *Disclaimer* Whilst our target budget was set at a particular amount, this was purely the generic target set by GoFund me,  the reality is that our financial target at this point remains to be dynamic and relative to the duration of the pandemic and how many people we are able to assist in the long run.
