Our team is made up of Launa Herne, Hayley Poltorak, Shaheel Khawar and Chris Carr.
On 5th September, we are one of many teams talking part in Wesleyan's 3rd annual charity walk, a 13 mile walk across Birmingham.
This year our team has decided to raise funds for The Matt Gallagher Foundation, to help those suffering from Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
There are two personal connections in the team to this cause. Hayley lost her Dad, Mick Margis, to this cruel disease back in 2007. And unfortunately, Launa's ex-husband is currently suffering with it after being diagnosed in September 2024.
Launa said “It’s such a heartbreaking illness, not just for the person diagnosed, but for everyone who loves and cares for them. My sons, both in their twenties, are now helping to look after their dad, who was once such a strong and active man. Sadly, support across the UK is really uneven, and in some places, it’s incredibly limited. That’s why the work of local charities is so vital, they truly make a difference.”
Any donation, no matter how small, will be really valuable. Thank you to anyone that can help us support this local charity.
The Matt Gallagher Foundation is a charity to help people suffering with Motor Neurone Disease in the Midlands area....
"We aim to offer support for both them and their families. Whether it is funding a stairlift, wet room or helping fund a dream holiday to make lasting memories with loved ones.
We understand that time is of the essence and delays provided by larger organisations can cause additional pain and suffering for those already going through tough times.
We are striving to beat MND and the impact it has on people across the UK. We aim to raise money, raise awareness and have a good time along the way!"
