Hi my name is Arwel Rees.
I am raising money for Swansea Community Farm, an outstanding local charity.
I compelted the Welsh Three Peaks of Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen Y Fan in 30 hours on Sunday 2nd November/ Monday 3rd November.
Swansea Community Farm does an incredible job in the local community, helping individuals with their wellbeing and mental health. I listened to CEO Kate Gibbs give a very moving presentation in a BNI Dylan Chapter, Swansea networking event. She highlighted how the charity has helped numerous individuals with mental health problems and provided them with a purpose in life. She mentioned that the charity have helped saved many lives in the process. This gave me the inspiration to take on this challenge and support the charity.
Swansea Community Farm is a community-led, award-winning charity, set in 3.5 acres of land in Swansea.
They are the only city farm in Wales and host a range of farm animals, allotments, wildlife areas and bee hives. The Farm exists to improve wellbeing, build skills, and create a sense of belonging, alongside producing local food and caring for our natural environment.
Our animals, gardens and allotment are looked after by volunteers, young, old, and in between!
They work with many volunteers with disabilities and people who have experienced health problems or other traumatic events. Working at the farm helps people to rebuild their confidence, learn new skills and develop new interests in growing food, all whilst meeting people and caring for animals and the environment. It also produces healthy local food, provides a free to access community green space and creates a haven for the wildlife and nature we all rely on.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Arwel
