I am raising funds for Sunflower Parent Carer Support (SPCS) to provide activities for parent/carers of children with SEND in north London, with a focus of creating a supportive community. Parents of children with SEND experience higher levels of stress and isolation compared to parents of neurotypical and non-disabled children. This is often not directly because of our children’s needs or difficulties, but due to raising children in a world that is not as inclusive as it claims to be, as well as having to constantly battle bureaucratic processes to access support for both our children and ourselves.

SPCS is a community interest company run voluntarily by 'experts by experience', that puts parent/carer wellbeing at its forefront. We provide both educational and recreational activities for parent carers, as well as events that are inclusive for the whole family.

All proceeds from this funding campaign (after platform fees) will go directly towards the cost of these activities, such as craft workshops, wellbeing activities and day trips out. Additionally, any money raised in excess of £1500 will go towards fun events for the whole family to attend. We hope that with this funding parent carers will find a sense of community within SPCS which will then extend to our children as well.
