In 2023, a group of Rolling Hills neighbors came together to welcome a refugee family to our neighborhood, and in 2025 we welcomed an Afghan SIV family. We were moved by the incredible generosity from so many members of our community, from fundraising or donating furniture or helping the families settle in. We will now be welcoming a third family and we need your help!

As the United States closes its borders -- the US has shut down the US Refugee Admissions Program and ended the Welcome Corps program that we participated in -- there is a group of immigrants who are still allowed. Afghan and Iraqi nationals with Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs), who helped the US government and now are in grave danger because of that, are currently allowed to immigrate to the United States.

We will be welcoming a newcomer family in the coming weeks and we need your help! 100% of the funds we raise will be spent on supporting the family’s start-up and living expenses during their transition to independence in our community. We anticipate that most of it will go toward housing-related and food costs.

Any funds raised beyond what we need to support this family will either be held for a future sponsorship or donated to a community organization that supports refugees/SIVs resettling in the US.
