Kevin Flowers recently returned to the community after spending 29 in prison for a crime he committed as a young man. He is an empathetic, thoughtful, and intelligent man who spent his time in prison inspiring other men to turn their lives around and further their education. Many of Kevin's friends from prison who have returned to the community credit their successful reentry to Kevin.

"While Kevin is my friend, over the years he became more of a father figure to me. He always wanted me to do my best and he constantly pushed me to continue my education and enroll in any programs that I could. Kevin pushed me to exceed my own expectation of myself. He is articulate and very intelligent, and he was always encouraging the people around him to become better versions of themselves."

"Kevin did not allow me to connect with negative people and situations in my early days, he instead had me focus on things that were positive, such as education and programs. I credit Kevin for pushing me to get my GED and for encouraging me to get involved with meaningful programs such as HVAC. Kevin was adamant about programming so that we could better ourselves and make good use of our time inside. I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for Kevin being on top of me and encouraging me all of those years, I would not be where I am today."

While returning home from prison is always difficult, Kevin's reentry has required an additional financial burden. He is required to reside in D.C. temporarily while he awaits the transfer of his probation to Delaware - but the process has proved longer and much costlier than expected.
