Welcome Home Yvette!
Donation protected
UPDATE: Yvette is now settled in her new apartment! Rent is $1500/month, so funds will run out relatively soon. In the meantime, Yvette has been applying to numerous long-term supportive and affordable housing options. Our hope is that Yvette will get off of the waitlist for one of these programs within the next year. Thank you all for your support, it means so much to Yvette, her family, and us. Anything you are able to give will help Yvette maintain her current stability after a tumultuous few months of homelessness and uncertainty.
Over the last three years, we have grown close to Yvette as we worked with her to prepare for her parole hearing, and we are so excited to welcome her home! Yvette is truly a wonderful person. She is always generous with her kindness and care. We laugh about funny anecdotes that we share with each other, she teases us for not watching the “Fast and Furious” franchise or not knowing enough about Marvel movies, and tells us joyfully about the rapid growing-up of her grandchildren. We are so glad to know Yvette, and we ask you to help Yvette as she reenters the community after being incarcerated for 27 years.
Yvette developed serious medical conditions during her time in prison, and accessing quality care will be expensive. She will also need new clothes, a phone, and assistance with everyday expenses during this exciting yet challenging transition. All donations will go directly to Yvette. Once she’s settled, Yvette hopes to finish her college education, open a food truck, and assist women who have experienced domestic violence. Thank you for supporting Yvette as she embarks on this new chapter!
