My name is Jason Pollick, I am 14 years old and Scout with Troop 319 in La Mesa, CA and working on my Eagle Project. I am an active scout with over 100 camping nights and out of the 137 available merit badges I have completed 125. The Scouts have taught me to live my life by the Scout Oath and Law which is to "help other people at all times" and to be kind, courteous, and helpful. This is why I chose to help San Diego Youth Services.
San Diego Youth Services provide services to more than 28,000 youth every year to include meeting the basic needs and care for children from infancy to age 25. This includes providing foster care while helping the youth create positive connections while developing life skills.
When the foster kids age out of the program, San Diego Youth Services help these young adults find their first apartment. My project is to build Welcome Home Move-in boxes which would contain essential home items. This would be helpful as it will help the young adults financially while improving the quality of life while moving in. These essential items include, but not limited to: Bathroom items (towels, toilet paper, plungers, tooth brushes), Laundry (detergent, baskets), Kitchen (dish soap, dish drying racks, common cooking utensils) and Cleaning (trash bags, brooms, dust pans, mops). All packages with be delivered to the San Diego Youth Services.
I am graciously asking for donations to help with this project. I believe this is a very important cause for our community as these young adults are the future generation of tomorrow. I also have hope that this project will help these young adults move on with the next chapter in their lives. Thank you!!
