Building Opportunity for the Windsor Basketball Community

Donation protected
My name is Yohann sam, and alongside Simeon smith, we’re trying to build something meaningful for the Windsor community.

I’ve spent the last four years in Windsor. Coming here from the Toronto area, I was used to a different environment — more runs, more exposure, more opportunities to compete and be seen. Basketball felt alive there.

But after spending years in Windsor, I started noticing something that didn’t sit right with me.

There’s talent here. A lot of it.

But not enough opportunities for athletes to actually showcase it.
A lot of players are left with nowhere to go, No consistent events, No real platform. Just talent that goes unnoticed.
After four years of seeing that firsthand, I didn’t want to just leave and forget about it.

I wanted to do something about it.

Simeon came in with that same mindset, and together we decided to build something for the city before moving on.

What We’re Trying to Build

“Welcome to the Den” is a community basketball showcase happening on April 18th at St. Denis Centre.

This isn’t just another run in a gym.
We’re creating:
  • Competitive 1v1 and 3v3 games
  • A real platform for athletes to be seen
  • An environment that actually feels like something meaningful
  • High-level Windsor basketball players and local stars all in one place

We’ve already started building this the right way with support from:
  • Team Canada 3x3 (player gear)
  • A physiotherapy sponsor

Why This Means So Much
After four years here, it’s hard to ignore how many athletes don’t get the same chances as others in bigger cities.

  • Over time players lose motivation
  • stop playing altogether
  • never even get the chance to show what they can really do.

It’s about bringing back that reason to compete, giving people something to be part of, and creating a moment that actually feels meaningful.

Where Your Support Goes
  • We’re raising funds to cover:
  • Gym rental (Toledo Lancer Centre )
  • Media and videography
  • Equipment and setup
  • Player experience and prizes
  • Everything raised goes directly into building this event the right way.

Why We Need Help

With the event set for April 18th, we’re at the point where we need to lock everything in.
We’ve put in the time, effort, and resources to get this far — but we can’t finish it without support.

Be Part of Something Bigger

You can help make this happen. Every donation brings us closer to giving Windsor athletes the opportunities they deserve, and every share helps spread the word.

This isn’t just one event — it’s a chance to give local talent a stage, inspire the next generation, and make sure their skills don’t go unnoticed.
Donate today or share this with someone who can help — every bit counts.
