Weeping Time Historical Survey

On April 8, 2021 the Savannah City Council voted to approve a special use permit to 2305 Augusta Avenue, part of the original Ten Broeck Race Track which held the largest recorded slave auction in U.S. History, pending an archeological survey to prove it is not "The Weeping Time" original parcel. There has been a three month time frame for the city manager to complete the survey

We want to assure the most complete and accurate survey of the property is being afforded the citizens of Savannah.  A coalition of Friends of West Savannah, TIA and others are working together to work with the city toward the most thorough assessment of the site. Help us raise money to assure a proper assessment of this land.

4/25** OUR LIVE FUNDRAISER at Solomon Temple COGIC & Litway raised an additional $920.00 and we have two additional large donations still pending.
4/29** Black Voters Matter contributed $5,000.00 to our PayPal Account! THANK YOU- as we can now begin talks with money to assist.
5/2** West Savannah Longshoreman, Alderwoman and two other community members contributed $500.00.
5/10** West Savannah & Litway Contributions $521.00
5/17** Woodville $50.00

***UPDATE***

With the funds collected through this Go Fund Me and the other fundraising efforts we have been able to hire Dr. Anne Bailey, a historian, scholar and author whose research specializes in the Weeping Time Slave Auction to speak on behalf of her research findings as they relate to the property at 2305 Augusta Ave.
