We are The Weegie Whackers, a grassroots LGBTQ+ inclusive Tennis Club based in Glasgow. We run a weekly session which includes coaching and match play, as well as one social match play session per month.

As an LGBTQ+ club, inclusivity and community are at the heart of the Weegie Whackers, which is why we decided to create a fundraising committee. Throughout 2026, the goal of the committee is to raise £1,000 for our club by the end of the year. The money raised will support access for new members as well as covering sessions costs for those experiencing financial barriers to access tennis.

As a committee we’ve explored many ways to raise funds which alongside our inaugural bake this spring, include this GoFundMe page. We believe sport should be inclusive and accessible to everyone. With LGBTQ+ people still facing barriers to safe participation, from transphobia to increasing costs, community spaces like ours are vital to ensure everyone feels welcome.
