Greetings to all,
We are the Webster Fire Department; a volunteer-based firefighting and rescue department serving the village of Webster, Wisconsin and surrounding areas.
Throughout the last few years growth in our fire and rescue service has seen a sizeable increase in calls for both fire and rescue operations. As the world has evolved due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the workforce and other related areas have seen an operational shift towards working from home or making a lifestyle change in moving to the Wisconsin northwoods. Those who may have visited our area less frequently due to work schedules/commitments were able to transition from seasonal to more of a year-round resident. Associated with these comes increased campfires, grilling out, home cooked meals, traffic and many additional areas of potential fire and rescue hazards.
In response along with a need to update our current vehicle fleet, the Webster Fire Department will be placing into service a brand new vehicle apparatus in late spring of 2022. This new apparatus will contain a wide array of new and improved features for successfully handling present day fire and rescue related incidents.
However, an important piece of equipment not included on this new apparatus are what is called the Jaws of Life. This crucial tool assists firefighters in a number of ways, although most often used in vehicle related incidents. Specifically, extrication of victims trapped during a rollover, collision or other accident. The department's current set of Jaws continues to be used in such events. Replacement of this tool is vital with changing structural materials and advancing technology seen in today's commercial and passenger vehicles.
The Webster Fire Department is seeking donations to purchase this new tool. The newly purchased Jaws will be used on the arriving apparatus and ensure we can continue to safely perform essential firefighter duties involving vehicle accidents. The goal amount requested covers not only the cost of the new Jaws but additional attachments such as a spreading and cutting tool. Any additional funds will be used as overall assistance to the department with other operational cash needs. Any amount you can provide gets our department one dollar closer to obtaining these new life saving tools.
