Hi everyone,
I don’t even fully know how to put this into words because it still doesn’t feel real…
I’m part of a group called Common Threads at UUCV where we gather together to make blankets as a community to support the Homeless Memorial Blanket Project, and what we do means everything to me. Through this project, people come together to create handmade blankets that are displayed as powerful public installations—and then given to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Every blanket tells a story.
Every blanket represents someone who matters.
If you want to see what this project is about, you can visit our website:

This work is about compassion, dignity, and making sure people who are often overlooked are seen.
And somehow… we were just given an opportunity that feels bigger than anything we could have planned.
We’ve been invited to have a booth at the Earth Day Celebration in Times Square later this month.
Yes—Times Square.
This opportunity was completely unexpected and given to us by The Homeless Memorial Blanket Project, and I’m still in shock. Out of all the organizations, they chose to give us this space to represent something so meaningful.
But here’s the honest part…
We don’t have the funds to get there.
As a nonprofit, everything we do is already carefully stretched—and this came together so fast that we simply weren’t prepared financially.
We’re trying to raise money to cover:
• Gas to get to New York
• Food while we’re there
• Basic travel expenses so we can actually show up and do this right
This isn’t just a trip.
This is a chance to stand in one of the most visible places in the world and represent people who are so often invisible.
To share their stories.
To spread awareness.
To grow something that is already making a difference.
I wouldn’t be asking if it didn’t truly matter.
If you’re able to donate, even a few dollars helps more than you know.
If you can’t, sharing this could make all the difference.
Thank you for taking a moment to read this and be part of something that’s so close to my heart.
