We Want To Play - Middleton Outdoor Ice

With the uncertainty of COVID persisting for months to come, a group of seniors from the Middleton High School hockey team is leading an effort to build two outdoor sheets of ice on Penni Klein park in Middleton WI.  The initial intent was to have a place to play pond hockey but the team soon realized this project could benefit others as well.  Not only will younger hockey players have a place to play, the entire community will benefit from having a fun place to get outside, breathe fresh air, exercise, and bond with others while maintaining best practices of COVID prevention.   

The high school team presented the concept to the City of Middleton and received unanimous support for the project. The team is organizing this fundraiser and has volunteered to take primary responsibility for construction and maintenance.  Once complete, we invite everyone to come out and enjoy the experience of outdoor ice!

The fundraising goal is $15,000 which would cover the cost to build two sheets (approximately 50' x 100') and the cost for accessories such as shovels, lights, benches, etc.  Any proceeds left over will be donated to the non-profit Middleton Youth Hockey Association and the Red Line Club (High School Hockey).  All materials will be donated to the City of Middleton so that these sheets can be used in future years.  Winter is soon approaching so we need to fundraise immediately! 

Our goal is to have all equipment purchased by November 10th.  We sincerely appreciate any assistance as we strive to provide a positive outlet for our community during this stressful time.
